15 Best Things to Do in San Antonio This November (2026 Guide)
Your local guide to November events, free activities, Spurs basketball, Veterans Day, food festivals, holiday lights, and more in San Antonio, Texas.
If you think San Antonio slows down once Halloween is over, think again.
November is honestly one of my favorite times to get out and enjoy this city. The weather finally starts cooling down, the Spurs are back, there's plenty happening downtown, and before you know it, Christmas lights are going up along the River Walk.
Whether you're a San Antonio local, visiting for Thanksgiving, PCSing to Joint Base San Antonio, or considering moving here, there's something happening for just about everybody.
And I'm not talking about activities only for families.
I'm talking date nights, concerts, food festivals, outdoor adventures, things to do with friends, and even experiences that won't cost you a dime.
As a local San Antonio REALTOR® and Air Force Veteran, I love showing people what makes this city special beyond just the homes.
So here are 15 of the best things to do in San Antonio this November 2026.
1. Celebrate DiwaliSA on the River Walk
When: November 7, 2026
Best for: Culture, families, couples, friends
San Antonio celebrates cultures from all over the world, and DiwaliSA is one of the coolest examples.
Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is celebrated through traditional performances, food, music, cultural activities, and a fireworks finale in downtown San Antonio.
If you've never experienced DiwaliSA, this is a great opportunity to experience something different without leaving the city.
It's also a reminder that San Antonio has so much more cultural diversity than people sometimes realize.
Local tip: Make a full evening out of it by exploring downtown and the River Walk before the celebration.
2. Catch a San Antonio Spurs Game
When: Throughout the NBA season
Best for: Sports fans, date nights, families, friends
Come on now. You knew the Spurs were making this list.
November means basketball season is underway, and there's nothing quite like a Spurs home game.
Whether you're a lifelong fan or you're brand-new to San Antonio, experiencing the Silver and Black in person is part of living here.
Grab some friends, take the kids, or make it a date night.
Even if you're not a huge basketball fan, the atmosphere alone is worth experiencing.
Check the official Spurs schedule for November home games, opponents, and ticket availability.
3. Honor Our Veterans at SA Veterans Day
When: November 14, 2026
Where: Hemisfair
Cost: Free admission
There's a reason San Antonio is known as Military City USA.
Our military community is a huge part of this city, and Veterans Day is an opportunity to recognize the men and women who have served.
This year's SA Veterans Day celebration at Hemisfair is a free, family-friendly event featuring entertainment and interactive activities.
As an Air Force Veteran myself, this one means a little more.
I spent nearly 12 years serving, including time stationed right here at Lackland AFB, and it's pretty special to live in a city that has such a strong connection to our military.
Whether you're a Veteran, currently serving, a military spouse, or simply someone who wants to show appreciation, put this on your calendar.
4. Experience Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival
When: November 14, 2026, beginning at 6 PM
Where: Houston Street, Downtown San Antonio
Cost: Free
If you're looking for something different to do on a Saturday night, check out Luminaria.
This free arts festival brings together music, film, visual art, digital installations, poetry, and live performances in downtown San Antonio.
It's a great option for couples, single adults, groups of friends, and anyone who appreciates art or creative experiences.
And because it's free, you don't have to make a huge financial commitment just to get out of the house.
Walk around, experience the installations, grab dinner nearby, and enjoy downtown.
5. Spend a Weekend Morning at The Pearl
When: Weekends throughout November
Best for: Families, food lovers, dates, solo outings
If you've read my previous San Antonio guide, you already know how much I like recommending The Pearl.
And November is a great time to visit.
Start your morning with coffee, walk through the Pearl Farmers Market, browse local vendors, and grab something to eat.
Or skip the morning altogether and come back for dinner and drinks.
Between the restaurants, Hotel Emma, Pullman Market, and the nearby Museum Reach section of the River Walk, there's plenty to explore.
The best part?
You don't necessarily have to spend money to enjoy walking around.
Local tip: Walk along the Museum Reach toward downtown for a completely different River Walk experience than the traditional tourist area.
6. Eat Your Way Through Panda Fest
When: November 21–22, 2026
Where: Civic Park at Hemisfair
Cost: Ticketed event
This one is making its San Antonio debut, and food lovers should definitely pay attention.
Panda Fest is bringing more than 70 food vendors and over 150 dishes from across Asia to downtown San Antonio.
There will also be cultural performances, merchandise vendors, and panda-themed activities.
If you're anything like me and enjoy checking out different food spots around San Antonio, this is an easy addition to the calendar.
It's a great weekend outing for couples, friends, or families who enjoy trying something new.
Come hungry.
7. Explore Government Canyon State Natural Area
When: Throughout November, subject to park hours and trail conditions
Best for: Hiking, fitness, outdoors, solo adventures
November is one of the times of year when I really enjoy getting outdoors in San Antonio.
And if you haven't explored Government Canyon on the Far Northwest Side, you're missing out.
With more than 40 miles of trails, this state natural area is a great place to hike, get some exercise, and experience the Texas Hill Country landscape without taking a long road trip.
There are trails for different experience levels, and the park is also known for its dinosaur trackway, although access and visibility depend on conditions.
Bring water, wear appropriate shoes, and check trail closures before heading out.
This is a good reminder that some of the best things to do around San Antonio don't involve shopping centers or restaurants.
Sometimes you just need to get outside.
8. Catch Beetlejuice the Musical at the Majestic Theatre
When: November 13–15, 2026
Where: Majestic Theatre, Downtown San Antonio
Cost: Ticketed performance
Looking for a date-night idea?
Beetlejuice the Musical is coming to the historic Majestic Theatre for a limited run in November.
Even if you don't usually go to Broadway-style productions, the Majestic itself is worth experiencing.
The architecture, atmosphere, and location make it one of my favorite types of downtown entertainment recommendations.
Grab dinner before the show and make an evening out of it.
This is exactly the kind of thing people overlook when they say there's nothing to do in San Antonio.
9. Enjoy the Yanaguana Indian Arts Festival
When: November 14, 2026
Where: Briscoe Western Art Museum
Cost: Free
Another free November event worth checking out is the Yanaguana Indian Arts Festival.
This celebration highlights Native American art, traditions, performances, demonstrations, and cultural storytelling.
It's a chance to learn more about the Indigenous communities whose history is deeply connected to San Antonio and the surrounding region.
If you enjoy history, art, or educational experiences, this is a meaningful way to spend part of your Saturday.
And it's another example of why you don't need an expensive ticket to experience something worthwhile in San Antonio.
10. Experience Smoke & Fire BBQ Fest at Pullman Market
When: November 14, 2026
Where: Pullman Market at Pearl
Cost: Ticketed event
Let's talk barbecue.
Because it's Texas.
Smoke & Fire BBQ Fest brings together pitmasters, live-fire cooking, food, beverages, and entertainment for a celebration of all things smoked and grilled.
If you're looking for an adults' night out, a food-focused date, or something to do with friends, this is one to consider.
And since it's at Pullman Market, you can explore the Pearl area before or afterward.
11. See the Ford Holiday River Parade
When: Friday, November 27, 2026
Where: Downtown San Antonio River Walk
Cost: Ticketed parade seating; surrounding downtown experiences vary
This is one of the biggest November traditions in San Antonio.
The Ford Holiday River Parade takes place the day after Thanksgiving and officially kicks off the River Walk holiday season.
Picture illuminated river barges, holiday music, festive decorations, and downtown San Antonio coming alive for Christmas.
The parade begins at 6 PM, and the River Walk lighting ceremony is part of the celebration.
If you're new to San Antonio, I think experiencing the River Walk during the holidays should be on your bucket list.
Local tip: Plan parking and dinner ahead of time. Downtown gets busy for major events like this.
12. Walk Under the River Walk Christmas Lights
When: Beginning November 27, 2026
Where: Downtown San Antonio
Cost: Free to walk
Here's something I love about San Antonio during the holidays.
You can experience one of the city's most recognizable Christmas traditions without buying a ticket.
After the holiday lighting ceremony, more than 200,000 lights illuminate the River Walk's cypress trees.
Walk along the river, enjoy the atmosphere, grab a coffee or hot chocolate, and take in downtown.
It's a great date-night activity, family outing, or even something to do on your own.
And honestly, this is one of those times when San Antonio looks especially good.
13. Explore the Japanese Tea Garden and Brackenridge Park
When: Throughout November
Where: Near the San Antonio Zoo
Cost: Free garden admission
If you're looking for something relaxing and inexpensive, the Japanese Tea Garden is always worth recommending.
Waterfalls, stone pathways, greenery, and beautiful scenery make it a great place for photos, dates, or a peaceful afternoon.
And since you're already in the area, explore Brackenridge Park.
Bring the family, go for a walk, or make it part of a bigger day around the San Antonio Zoo and nearby attractions.
Sometimes the simplest activities are the best ones.
14. Enjoy Live Music and Concerts Around San Antonio
When: Various dates in November
Best for: Adults, couples, friends, music fans
San Antonio has a lot going on musically this November.
A few notable scheduled performances include:
-
Sara Evans at Stable Hall on November 13.
-
Jonas Brothers at Frost Bank Center on November 14.
-
Buena Vista Social Club at the Majestic Theatre, November 24–29.
And those are only a few examples.
You can also check the Tobin Center, Aztec Theatre, Stable Hall, and other local venues for additional performances.
Whether you're into country, pop, Latin music, or live entertainment in general, there's probably something happening this month you'll enjoy.
15. Take a Fall Day Trip Into the Texas Hill Country
When: Any November weekend
Best for: Couples, friends, families, solo travelers
One of the biggest advantages of living in San Antonio is what surrounds us.
You can spend the morning downtown and, with a little driving, find yourself in a completely different environment.
Want a small-town shopping and dining day? Visit Boerne.
Want live music and Texas history? Explore Gruene.
Want wineries, restaurants, and a weekend getaway? Head toward Fredericksburg.
Want hiking and outdoor scenery? Consider Lost Maples State Natural Area or Garner State Park.
November can be an excellent time to explore the Hill Country as temperatures cool and outdoor activities become more comfortable.
Just remember that fall foliage depends on the weather, and popular state parks may require advance reservations.

What Are the Best Things to Do in San Antonio for Adults This November?
If you're looking for date nights, activities for singles, or things to do with friends, November has plenty of options.
I'd start with a Spurs game, Luminaria, a concert at Stable Hall, a show at the Majestic, a dinner date at The Pearl, Smoke & Fire BBQ Fest, or an evening walking the River Walk once the holiday lights are on.
And if you enjoy the outdoors, Government Canyon or a Hill Country day trip can make a great weekend adventure.
San Antonio isn't just a place for families with kids.
There's plenty here for adults, too.
What Are the Best Family-Friendly Activities in San Antonio This November?
For families, some of my favorite options from this list are SA Veterans Day, the Yanaguana Indian Arts Festival, Panda Fest, the Japanese Tea Garden, the River Walk holiday lights, and a Spurs game.
You can also explore parks and trails, spend a weekend at The Pearl, or take a short road trip into the Hill Country.
The best choice depends on your children's ages, your budget, and whether you're looking for something educational, active, or just plain fun.
Why November Is a Great Time to Experience San Antonio
Here's what I think people sometimes miss about living in San Antonio.
It's not just about having attractions nearby.
It's about having options.
You can spend one weekend cheering on the Spurs, the next weekend hiking through Government Canyon, and the next walking underneath Christmas lights downtown.
You can enjoy the city with your kids, your spouse, your friends, or completely on your own.
And you can do a lot of it without spending much money.
That's one of the things I appreciate about calling San Antonio home.
Thinking About Moving to San Antonio?
If you're reading this because you're relocating to San Antonio, PCSing to JBSA-Lackland, Fort Sam Houston, or Randolph AFB, or considering buying a home in the Texas Hill Country, there's something I always tell people:
Where you live determines how you experience the city.
Living near downtown gives you a different lifestyle than living in Alamo Ranch, Schertz, Bulverde, Boerne, or the Far West Side.
Your commute, nearby entertainment, restaurants, outdoor access, and everyday conveniences all matter.
That's why I don't just help people find houses.
I help them understand the different parts of San Antonio so they can find a home that actually fits their lifestyle.
If San Antonio is your next move, I'd love to help.
Let's find the area that fits your life. Then we'll find the house.
